PTEC Recommendations & Goals

PTEC strongly recommends that all pharmacy technician education and training programs have one representative that is a member of PTEC

PTEC strongly recommends that all pharmacy technician education and training programs seek American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ accreditation of their programs.

In the short term, PTEC will:

PTEC will work with other pharmacy related organizations to standardize pharmacy technician education and training.

Advocate a PTEC representative to attend other pharmacy organization meetings, in the spirit of promoting cooperation and collaboration with pharmacy technicians, education and training.

In the long term, PTEC will:

Continue to advocate that all technician training programs strive for compliance with the current ASHP model curriculum.

Advocate that all Technicians will complete a formal training program, and participate in continuing education programs.
