PTEC 2010 to 2011 Strategic Plan

  1. Increase membership to include at least one representative from every ASHP-accredited program.
  2. Promote awarness of the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council.
  3. Improve commucation and organizational transparency.
  4. Pursue and strengthen inter-organizational partnerships.
  5. Maintain organziational fiduciary responsibility.
  6. Increase organizational efficiency by hiring sufficient support staff.

PTEC Position Statement

The position of the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council is that all pharmacy technicians must complete a formal educational training program. This program must include:
  • A minimum 600 hours of didactic, laboratory and experiential training.
  • Experiential training hours must include community and institutional practice settings,
  • Training hours must be adequate to ensure competency.
These criteria must be fulfilled as a prerequisite for national certification.

The following organizations have issued the following documents which support the goals and statements made by the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council.  PTEC endorses and supports the views and statements made in these documents.

In addition, the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP) has created a "vision" of how pharmacy should be practiced in 2015.  Commonly referred to as the 2015 Vision, this statement and the accompanying action plan are shaping the activities of many national pharmacy professional groups.
